On our way there, we bumped into the American Gothic statue. Grant Wood's American Gothic painting is housed at the Art Institute of Chicago.
There were gorgeous tulips all throughout Magnificent Mile and Millennium Park.
We walked around the Jay Pritzker Pavilion (designed by Frank Gehry) and imagined what it would be like to watch an outdoor concert at this amazing venue.
We checked out the popular Cloud Gate sculpture.

I was starving so we finally got lunch at the Art Institute. We relaxed and enjoyed our paninis by the lovely fountain. Dex and I studied the map and decided which parts of the Art Institute we were going to check out.
Here's one of my favorites...Georges Seurat's A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte. This piece took 2 years to complete and was done with dots of paint, known as pointillism...
The new Modern Wing housed Cy Twombly's: The Natural World. We really liked the vibrant colors in his Peony Blossom paintings.
I was fascinated with Gerhard Richter's, Woman Descending the Staircase. The silver-blue brushwork on this photo painting is freakin' amazing!
That's it for the Chicago blog. We spent the rest of the trip eating and watching the Lakers :).
We are planning to take another vacation in August before work gets even crazier for both Dex and I.
